Tesla and SpaceX Bitcoin Holdings Reach $2 Billion Amid BTC Surge
Tesla and SpaceX have emerged as major beneficiaries of the recent Bitcoin surge, with their combined holdings now valued at an estimated $2 billion. According to data from Arkham Intelligence, Tesla owns approximately 11,509 BTC, currently valued at $1.17 billion, while SpaceX holds around 8,285 BTC, worth $842 million.
These Bitcoin holdings were acquired at an average price of $34,980 per BTC. With Bitcoin’s value surging to nearly $100,000, the investments have yielded a substantial gain of $1.3 billion—a 186% increase on the companies’ original investments.
Tesla’s foray into cryptocurrency began in 2021 when the company announced a $1.5 billion investment in Bitcoin. At the time, Tesla briefly accepted Bitcoin as payment for its electric vehicles but suspended the option due to concerns over the environmental impact of Bitcoin mining. Despite this, Tesla’s commitment to the cryptocurrency has remained significant.
Recent activity indicates that Tesla has transferred Bitcoin worth $760 million from its public wallet in a series of rapid transactions, signaling a shift in how the company manages its crypto assets. Despite this transfer, Tesla is believed to still hold $780 million worth of Bitcoin.
SpaceX, while less publicly vocal about its Bitcoin strategy, has followed a similar trajectory in terms of accumulating and retaining substantial reserves of the cryptocurrency.
The cryptocurrency market’s resurgence, driven by growing institutional adoption and increasing investor confidence, has played a key role in elevating Bitcoin’s value. Tesla and SpaceX’s gains underscore the potential profitability of Bitcoin for corporations willing to navigate its inherent volatility.
This development highlights the strategic role of cryptocurrency in corporate treasury management. For Tesla and SpaceX, the gains add to their bottom lines while reinforcing Bitcoin’s role as a potential store of value.
As the market continues to evolve, the actions of major players like Tesla and SpaceX are likely to influence broader adoption and acceptance of cryptocurrency as a mainstream financial asset.
